Whatʹs New For Blackmagic Disk Speed Test
Ipad-friendly but not Mac-friendly
I occasionally need to edit what I typed or wrote after looking over my handwritten iPad notes on my Mac.
On my Mac trackpad, I prefer to type new content rather than rewrite it.
Text insertion is trickier than I thought.
Only in an outline and beneath handwriting are you able to write.
A textbox can’t be moved so that the text is in the desired location.
I wish they would add or improve computer-based editing.
Overall, this app outperforms Goodnotes. Excellent indexing and handwriting searching.
I’m in awe that it can index and search my handwriting.
I’ve tried a lot of note-taking programmes and platforms, but this one is the best—comparable it’s to Apple Pages or Microsoft Word.
The ideal selection. Need better computer support.

Blackmagic tests SSDs and startup discs.
Blackmagic’s SSD speeds are accurate. Startup Disk isn’t writable, so Blackmagic can’t measure transfer rates. Startup Disk rates were solved. Easy. File->new image->blank image creates.dmg. Blackmagic needs 7GB+. Grow (if it is not already mounted). Blackmagic, mount. “Volume” indicates Startup Disk speed. My 2016 MacBook Pro reads 1,000 MB/s. SSD-equipped Macbooks slow down. Older MacBook Pros read and write at 500 MB/S. Blackmagic tested USB 2, 3, and C. If a spinning disc slows, a device isn’t performing well.

Excellent Value
Disk Speed Test is a useful and affordable product. Some improvements would make this programme great. Instead of running forever, it would be nice to specify how many times Disk Speed Test should run. Ability to specify pause time between runs At default values, it’s hard to stop the programme after one test and before another. A pause between runs would be nice. Disk Speed Test should save a log file with each run’s results. Something that can be imported into Excel is good. Disk Speed Test command line run would allow automation. Remote data collection by admins using ARD or other secure command line login.

Great tool, affordable
I wish the UI had a cancel button. I know I can quit applications, but SD cards make me nervous. I get all the data I need from the first couple SD card reads/writes, not the full 10+ minute run. A great tool. Installed and ran immediately on Sierra 12.6, but doesn’t open from the Mac store. Close the store and open from the applications drawer.

Free App
I appreciate it. The update (3.1) provides more stable speed readings than 2.x (where the guage is all over the map). NTFS-formatted drives are a problem. BMDST writes well to Paragon’s NTFS for Mac (430 to my SSD), but the read test often fails with “Error reading the test file.” Other than this, it’s a great tool.
