HP Easy Scan saviour

After downloading HP Easy Scan to my new iMac Pro and opening the app, I clicked on my office ‘HP OfficeJet Pro 8600’ icon to download a new print driver file. After printing, I scanned a document. The Easy Scan App reappeared, and when the scan finished, I clicked “Send,” which opened a save window where I selected a Folder for future scans. I scanned several documents from my printer’s feed tray. I clicked Save when finished. Each document was saved as a jpeg in my computer’s scan folder. HP’s free scan app is great. It will save me time from scanning to a USB drive, switching it to my computer, and searching HP Scan for my document. This increases efficiency. Congratulations!

I knew… Read reviews first.

Since I switched from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air, my HP “do everything” super printer’s scanner has been FICKLE. The next time I need to scan, it says “HP Officejet Pro 8610 [4963D5] is currently unavailable.” Check if it’s on and connected, or try later.” BULL. I searched online for an answer and checked for an update….and found this. My scanner worked this morning, but not four hours later. Updating the software didn’t help. I’m preparing for an important hearing and need to scan and copy exhibits, but HP has abandoned me. I’ll think “twice” before buying another HP Printer. I liked them before this.

First two reviews were negative, so I wanted to highlight my positive experience. HP may have deserved their reviews, but they must have updated. HP OfficeJet Pro 6970. I followed the printer’s instructions and downloaded “HP Utility” to scan a document. I downloaded the first app I saw. I only had to click a button to scan once it was downloaded. Very simple. There may have been a major upgrade, but it’s much easier than previous reviews.

I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews, but I assume they’re justified. I don’t know if they’ve updated the software. My HP 4650 install went smoothly. My computer wirelessly found it and installed drivers. Scanning is a separate process. I found it by searching “HP Utility.” It found the printer when I opened it from the Mac App Store. No choice. Test scan went well. All these reviews suggest I may have problems later, but for now I’m happy.
