I knew I’d only use a MacBook as a portable Logic Pro x DAW. The macbook air I bought can run Logic Pro x with many tracks and has great battery life. Logic makes my studio mobile. Logic’s stock sounds and sound parameters are great. Logic should connect instruments and midi. After learning logic, I was creative. Siri helping me with “record” and “pause” and adding an automated drummer would be great. Multitrack organiser happy. My main workspace is confusing. A logic touch screen would help workflo.

Logic 9 damaged EXS24.
Pre-L9 Logic EXS instruments have trouble finding samples. Logic 9 doesn’t let you tell EXS where to find samples. If you can connect the original hard drive, it will work. Copying the samples folder breaks it. Keep your old drive. Appe engineering doesn’t care about the problem. This is a huge problem for old-timers (I’ve used Logic since version 3). As Apple bought Redmatica, which would fix this (EXS Manager), it’s a mystery why this functionality hasn’t been made available, if they don’t want to fix Spotlight ( which is the underlying problem). Apple destroyed Emagic’s product. Each Logic update introduces new bugs. Good luck track-running. Inconsistent. Broken zoom.

Many DAWs. Pro Tools, Live, Cubase, Bitwig. Powerful DAWs. After using Logic Pro X, it’s hard to switch to another DAW. Logic has unmatched MIDI capabilities and can compose in all styles. Apple’s updates improve plug-ins and soft instruments. Waves Mercury, 2 UAD octo cores with most plugs, Sound Toys, Plugin Alliance, Sonnox, Melodyne, and Izotope work flawlessly. Software simplifies composing and recording. Apple updates acoustic, jazz, electronica, and rock software. I applaud Apple’s dedication to software. 10.4 is amazing.

Pro-Tools-beating
Absolute best DAW. Simple, fluid GUIs are here. Flex Pitch and Tim are problematic. It quantizes a recorded audio region’s tempo automatically. Flex Pitch without editing time=disaster. Flex and Follow removes time and pitch corrections. Not allowed. Stretch. Irreversible. I’ve spent a week on Apple Forums. Flex artefacts destroy audio. System overloads are discussed. Reconsider buying a MacBook Air for Logic. No MacBook Air can run large Logic Project files with plugins. Buy a Mac or MacBook Pro.
