Software designers with decades of experience should know how to make a programme work. Microsoft Word differs. Yes, it has unique features. I downloaded it to use Pages’ “Compare Documents” function. Four times in five minutes, it crashed and froze my Mac. The app store promotion calls it “beautiful,” but I disagree with Microsoft’s definition. Windows, menus, buttons, and graphics overwhelm my vision. I can’t figure out how to find what I need. This piece of crap opens multiple document windows and the compare function kept asking for access to documents I wasn’t using. I don’t understand how a company with as much history as Microsoft can put out such a piece of garbage, and if it weren’t for this one feature, I would never have downloaded it in the first place.

Why so many negative reviews? Yes, this is an old subscription model. $70 single, $100 family. No freebies. Each family member gets 1 TB of OneDrive Cloud space. When compared to buying other cloud drive subscriptions, that’s a great deal. Some reviewers said it “BROKEN” Office. Any updated programme deletes the old one. If you don’t like the new version, delete and reinstall from the old discs. Microsoft Word is stable on my MacBook Air and iMac.

Microsoft Apple = Bad UX
Why did I expect this programme to work? Despite signing up for 2 Microsoft Office accounts with payment information, I couldn’t activate Word. They were 1-month trials to sign up for a year. Both confirmed my App Store subscription but were unavailable in Word. When I tried to log in, it said there was no existing account despite saying our account was activated. It put me in a loop of entering Apple and Microsoft passwords and receiving different information. I downloaded Word on my laptop and it worked in 5 minutes. I can’t use my Mac for Word, but using my laptop is better than using Pages, which is worse than this negative review.

Microsoft? Why?
I don’t hate Microsoft Word, but this programme confused me. First, I was disappointed to see that this was only Office 365, so I decided to start my free month, only to discover that the button was FAKE! Microsoft…wow. I had to pay $70 a year for a text editor or read blank documents. They might as well have required an upfront payment like older word copies, because I’m not buying. Now I could pay them $70 a month, but I could also just use my Office 2010 installation, which isn’t much different. I can use pages. Why does Microsoft use rude and aggressive business tactics? Why?
